OpenSchool · adaptive learning for schools

From a learning hub to an experience hub

OpenSchool builds an adaptive, mastery-based learning support layer for mainstream schools: academic content is learned in an AI-assisted focused block, and the freed time goes to experience — projects, skills, entrepreneurship, sport. The teacher becomes a Guide (mentor), not a replacement target.

The model

How OpenSchool works

1 · Mastery block

Understanding, not seat time

Academic content is split into masterable units. A learner advances only when a comprehension check confirms understanding — not speed, not memorisation. AI adapts the pace and offers a second explanation when needed.

2 · Guide

The teacher becomes a mentor

The teacher is no longer a content deliverer — they see where learners get stuck (struggle detection), validate mastery and lead. At every critical moment, a human is in the loop.

3 · Experience block

Freed time goes to experience

The time saved goes to what school otherwise never gets to: real projects, skills, entrepreneurship, sport — with the Guide as mentor.

The mastery loop — and where the human steps in

A learner advances only through understanding. When stuck, the system does not loop — it escalates to the Guide.

Why it is different

Ethics and wellbeing by design

The teacher stays at the centreAI assists, humans lead; the teacher is not replaced.

Understanding over speedchecks measure comprehension, not completed exercises.

Human in the loopmandatory escalation to the Guide when AI is stuck or a learner struggles.

Equity by designoutcomes are measured across learner groups, not just averages.

Transparency and GDPRconsent, revocability, no hidden surveillance.

The pilot in practice

What a pilot looks like at your school

The pilot is deliberately small and concrete — not "digitalising the whole school", but one focused step with our full support.

Evidence, not promises

What we measure

Whether learners progress faster with understanding intact — not just completing more.

How much time is actually freed for experience, and how much teacher time shifts to mentoring.

Whether learner wellbeing stays healthy — it is never subordinated to a metric.

Whether the model works across different learner groups — the question large international models leave unanswered.

Who we are looking for

Actively seeking

Pilot school in Latvia

Still being sought — a school that wants to pilot the "day, re-divided" model and build an accredited-programme partnership.

  • A ready support layer without your own development risk
  • Teacher training for the Guide role
  • Participation in an EU-level pilot with published results
Apply as a school

Erasmus+ consortium partners

Schools and organisations in Europe for transnational pilots — we are preparing a KA220-SCH application for the 2027 round.

  • A pilot in your country with full support
  • Open results and a shared methodology
  • A scalability test in your own context

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is OpenSchool?

A support layer for mainstream schools: academic content is learned in a mastery-based, AI-assisted focused time block, and the freed time is devoted to experience — projects, skills, entrepreneurship, sport. The teacher becomes a Guide (mentor).

Does AI replace the teacher?

No. The teacher stays at the centre and becomes a mentor. AI assists in the academic block, but at every critical moment human involvement is mandatory — escalation, mastery validation and wellbeing oversight.

How can a school get involved?

We are looking for a partner school in Latvia for the pilot and an accredited-programme partnership, as well as schools across Europe for an Erasmus+ consortium. Fill in the application form — we will get in touch and explain the pilot conditions.

How are data protection and EU AI Act compliance ensured?

Ethics and wellbeing are built in by design: GDPR compliance, parental and learner consent, transparency, no hidden surveillance, and human oversight in line with the EU AI Act’s high-risk requirements for education AI systems.
